Oh, Now I Get It?

Are you ever astonished at what passes for logic on Capitol Hill?

Senator Max Baucus recently hailed the work of his Finance Committee in drafting a universal health care bill. His committee labored for months to produce a mammoth bill (of course its more than 1000 pages in length). And with great fanfare it was released to the full Senate.

And it was hit (at last count) with 564 amendments. For all its Byzantine language and its inscrutable meaning, it should be called “The Lawyers Employment Protection Act”.

But of course you and I will not be allowed to see their work, Sen. Baucus declared it would be “too hard” to post it on the internet for the public to read. Maybe it is simply too inconvenient having you and me snooping around where we don’t belong.

If all the brain power on Capitol Hill cannot figure out how to post a word document on the internet, how can we trust them to run our health care?
