Have you ever heard of Mark Whitacre?
He is a felon who served nearly 9 years in prison for embezzling millions of dollars from his employers.
His story is a microcosm of what has happened to the U.S. economy.
Whitacre worked for a large multinational company and made a 7 figure income. He was aware of illegal activities inside the company and blew the whistle on the greed. He even agreed to wear a wire for the FBI.
He became worried about protecting his lifestyle, convincing himself he was entitled to the embezzled money because of his work for the FBI to uncover the corporate greed that was robbing consumers of billions annually.
Greed and a sense of entitlement is what brought Mark and America to a crossroad.
The wonder of the Whitacre story is his repentance and restoration. Will America repent? A gracious God is waiting.
