Manhood and Accountability

What are the attributes of a real man?
Our society has struggled for more than three decades trying to redefine what a real man looks like.
Male role models have been few and far between. Rejecting the John Wayne, macho man image, feminists have pushed the Alan Alda/Phil Donahue model of manhood, sensitive and supportive, in touch with their inner selves but without much backbone.
Insisting that the differences between men and women were the result of cultural biases, Progressives have insisted that little boys play with dolls and be restricted from traditional toys. They have promoted eliminating score keeping from games to reduce male competitiveness.
On the whole our society has created a system where little girls flourish and little boys suffer. The question is a complex one but what is clear is we have lost our way. Real men are courageous, principled and take responsibility for their own actions.
Mr. President, real men stand tall and don’t hide behind the Bushes.
