Terrorist or Common Criminal?
In Just a Thought, February 23rd, 2010
When is a terrorist nothing more than a common criminal?
When the Attorney General says so. The mess he’s made handling captured terrorists makes the Keystone Cops look competent. Trying the 9/11 thugs in a U.S. District court is an affront to common criminals convicted by a jury of their peers.
The liberals’ reasoning…we are a nation of laws…yes, and military tribunals have been declared legal by the Supreme Court.
We want this villain to receive a fair trial before we execute him…huh? In a fair trial, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Does this imply military tribunals are unjust?
Where will we ever find a jury of peers? Perhaps the jury pool should come from the mosques of New York City.
The Attorney General said he didn’t want an independent investigation into the Ft. Hood murderer because it would be a public spectacle. What does he think civilian trials of the terrorists will be?
