Democracy Prevails

Did you ever hear what happened in the battle between the Honduran constitution and Hugo Chavez?
Of course not! Our government controlled media had no interest in reporting the victory of the rule of law in the tiny country standing against Chavez led, US supported coup to overthrow their government.
Last summer the elected president of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya, with the support of Chavez, attempted to unilaterally alter the constitution to suspend term limits which prohibited him from being reelected.
The Honduran Supreme Court upheld the removal of Zelaya from office for constitutional violations. To our shame, our government backed the deposed president.
The Honduran government withstood the international pressure led by Chavez and our Secretary of State. They held their scheduled national elections in December and have now installed their new constitutionally elected leader.
Although we inexplicably supported the colonial interests of Hugo Chavez, we have declared our support for the new president.
Congratulation Honduras!
