The Party of “No”
In Just a Thought, April 27th, 2010
What’s wrong with saying, “No!”?
One of the current debates in DC is about labeling the conservatives the party of “No”. All the progressives are using that term against their opponents and some conservatives are concerned.
As any parent of teenagers is aware, saying, “No” is the safest thing you can say to most of the goofy ideas that teenagers are prone to dream up. Their enthusiasm is inspiring, but their life experiences have not yet been sufficient to develop good common sense and good parents protect their children from themselves.
Our progressive friends in DC sound a lot like spoiled teenagers complaining about their parents…”All they say is no, no, no”. Well, when no is the right answer, then adults have to say, “No”.
So, my conservative friends, wear the “all they say is no” label proudly. Heaven knows we need some adult leadership in Washington.
It was Nancy Reagan who said, “Just say no!” and it is still good advice.
