What do socialism and your electric bill have in common?
For one thing, if the socialists in Washington DC pass their cap and tax law, your electric bill will skyrocket. But there is another fundamental way that your electric bill can teach you something about the failure of socialism.
Have you ever noticed that the one most concerned about turning off the lights in your home, the one most concerned about keeping the thermostat at a reasonable setting is the one paying the bill?
In socialism, since someone else is paying the bill, a personal sense of responsibility to manage things in the most economical and efficient way is as well developed as it is in the child in your home who leaves the lights on, the refrigerator door open and sets the air conditioner at 69.
In other words, without a sense of personal responsibility, waste and abuse abound.
Has socialism ever advanced the human condition? Never in recorded history.
