Honor Among Elected Officials
In Just a Thought, April 21st, 2009
What passes for honorable behavior where you come from?
Most Americans think that honor involves keeping your word, obeying the law and owning your mistakes. That’s not the definition in DC. I struggle to understand the mindset that paid huge bonuses to the people who were responsible for the failure of AIG but, consider how dishonorable our elected officials have been.
They inserted language in the stimulus bill that authorized the payments.
They lied when asked about it.
To cover themselves, they vilified the bonus recipients.
Violating the constitution, they targeted those receiving the payments with punitive taxes.
By a vote of 328-93 Congress said those who were responsible for the failure should be taxed at a 90% rate…I guess that means that Congress will be taxing itself at 90% this year.
