Fresh Blood
In Just a Thought, December 30th, 2008
Have you ever fallen asleep on your arm and awakened to find it completely numb and unresponsive?
It is a really strange feeling to wake up to a totally useless appendage. And, for a few moments, you wonder if you’ve done any permanent damage when you cut off the circulation. But, in a few moments, it begins to tingle, feeling is restored and your arm is once again responsive to your brain.
I wonder as I look at how Washington DC functions today, if I went to sleep and have awakened to find the federal legislature completely numb and totally useless. And then I wonder if while I wasn’t paying attention, some permanent damage has been done to the wonderful governmental system set up by our founding fathers.
It is a medical certainty, that if circulation to a part of the body is cut off for too long it will die. I think this analogy apropos to the problems we face in the federal government today.
To ensure life, fresh blood must be continually supplied…so, to we desperately need fresh blood in Washington to ensure a vibrant and healthy government.
