Choices Have Consequences

Does it seem right to you, for someone to run a car into the ditch, ask the neighbors to get it out of the ditch and then expect the neighbors to reward driver for the wreck?
Of course not, but that is just what many of those responsible for driving our economy into the ditch seem to expect. High level corporate executives have pocketed millions in bonuses for their work in the past couple of years. Didn’t you notice the excellent work they did on your behalf to earn those bonuses?
And, Congress, while overseeing the wreck, just voted themselves major pay raises for 2009. That seems a lot like paying the fox to raid the hen house.
Kudos to the President for expecting any corporate executives expecting government assistance to forego any bonuses or pay raises. Now, what can we do about our legislature which is responsible for the mess we’re in?
Choices have consequences…if you are expecting to be rewarded for good performance; you must expect to pay the piper when things go south.
