Ever wish you could find a way to get rich overnight?
I may have found the answer. Get yourself elected to public office.
I often wondered why people spend millions of dollars to get elected to a job which pays only a small percentage of what it cost to obtain. Now I think I understand.
A recent study shows that the personal wealth of the members of the U.S. Congress has soared in recent years, leaving our lawmakers on average significantly more well-to-do than most Americans. We used to think of elected officials as public servants…that image is not and perhaps never was completely valid.
The rampant self serving and corrupt actions of our Congress today are amazing. From tax cheats to bribery, from kickbacks to outright thievery, many of our elected officials are robbing us blind…and they are both blatant and unrepentant about it.
It is time we take our government back from the scalawags in both parties who think they are entitled to enrich themselves at our expense.
