California and the Democratic Process

Did you know that California…yes, California…is showing the rest of the nation a way back?
California has a provision in state law allowing citizens to vote on issues they feel strongly about.
Recently they amended their constitution to protect traditional marriage…and it has now become the law of the state.
Also, in the past few days, California citizens had a chance to vote on three proposals to raise taxes to ensure enough money to continue all the state services. By an astounding 2 to 1 margin, all three ballot initiatives were defeated.
The voters sent the politicians a strong message…we have to live within our means…it is time the government does. Cut spending…and do not take any more from our pockets for your pet projects!
Hooray for California…America, it is time we send the same message to Washington.
