Private/Public Competition
In Just a Thought, September 30th, 2009
Can government run and private enterprise compete effectively on the same turf?
Proponents of the “public option” insist that a government run health care insurance plan is really the only way to promote competition in the field and ensure lower costs.
The problem is they cannot cite a single example of where that has been successful. The President, bless his heart, has tried. First it was the Post office example…but, ooops, the post office is bankrupt.
Most recently it was colleges and universities and how successfully private and state schools operate…and I must admit he had me really thinking on that one.
But then I realized the cost of higher education has sky-rocketed, increases running well ahead of inflation…so much for a public option helping to control costs!
If you think health care costs are bankrupting families, talk to families trying to put their children through college.
